Pili Pono Project
Making it easy to connect those in need with those willing to give.
What is the Pili Pono Project?
It’s a “small thing done with great love.” The Pili Pono Project is an online service that connects those with a need and those willing to provide for them, all year long. A recipient (who has been screened by a selection committee) and their desired item is described on a tree gift. Selecting a gift is a commitment to deliver the item wrapped at a designated drop-off location. Volunteers distribute wrapped gifts to Pili Pono Project recipients.
“Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”
— Mother Theresa
Why the Pili Pono Project?
Parents are sometimes challenged to provide basic necessities or small gifts for their children or themselves.
Others want to supply basic necessities or small gifts for others but don’t have an easy way to connect with someone in need.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, the amount of people who have basic needs have increased while traditional in-person opportunities to contribute have decreased.
These needs are all year-round.
What Makes This Unique?
Store Agnostic: Unlike a gift registry found at department or online stores, the Pili Pono Project is not associated with a specific business and instead focuses first on the needs of people with those who will provide for these needs from any store.
Personal Sacrifice: The preferred process of participating is for the giver to select, wrap and deliver a gift to a drop-off location. In this way, the “small thing done with great love” is the investment of your time and money to show love to another person.
Year-Round: The Pili Pono Project helps fulfill needs with campaigns throughout the year. Our Christmas Campaign has traditionally been our largest one.
Human Connection: Whenever possible, the Pili Pono Project includes stories of the individuals and families receiving the gifts to foster a more personal giving experience that extends beyond the transaction of exchanging money for a present.
